This item is made in Nepal by Pachamama, an ethical company that for 15 years has been working with artisans in Nepal and Ecuador to produce truly unique knitwear. In both countries the majority of production is village based, with the knitters supplementing their incomes from farming and fitting their knitting around their own family and work commitments. Pachamama also employs a small amount of people in a factory environment to hand finish and pack the garments. All these people work in excellent conditions and receive benefits and pay above the local standards.

Pachamama have bought from the same producers since the company was founded – ensuring continuous and solid economic and social growth for a large number of skilled artisans. In addition, they donate 10% of their profits to a children's charity in Nepal.

Sleigh bells jingle in singer-songwriter Martin Sexton’s stripped down version of “Holly Jolly Christmas.” Incorporating quirky vocals with a jazzy flare, California-based Big Bad Voodoo Daddy adds his signature retro-swing style to the Louis Armstrong hit “Is Zat You Santa Claus?,” bringing to mind images of Santa stealthily delivering presents to an eager household. And Leon Redbone’s heartwarming interpretation of the holiday standard “Let It Snow” will keep you cozy on the coldest of Christmas nights.

A Family Christmas also features classic songs by country music star Deana Carter; The Christmas Jug Band featuring bluesy singer-songwriters Angela Strehli and Maria Muldaur; British folksinger Kate Rusby; bluegrass innovator Sam Bush; and one of America’s best-loved party bands, Brave Combo. New Orleans-based husband and wife duo Debbie Davis and Matt Perrine and fellow Crescent City musicians Lars Edegran and His Santa Claus Revelers with Big Al Carson round out this joyous collection.

This is an independently audited certification that guarantees among other things, there is no child or indentured labour in the manufacture of their products. The manufacture of this product also helps support the local SOS Children’s Village in Kerala, paying for the care and upkeep of at least a dozen orphaned and abused children.
