In addition, this product is made of rubber wood sourced from exhausted rubber plantations that are replanted every 10–15 years, so it's eco-friendly too!

This item is made by Asha Handicrafts. Asha represents more than 6,500 artisans in 10 states of India. 'Asha' means 'hope' in Sanskrit. It aims to sustain the marketing ability of individual and family based artisans. It is a not-for-profit organisation which works to ensure that benefits of handicraft production reach the craftspeople themselves, by buying directly from the artisan groups and offering advance payments on orders.

Asha provides training and teaching facilities in tailoring and metal work, thereby establishing new local groups of craftsmen. It also provides educational assistance for children of the producers, medical check ups and treatment and savings programs for artisans and spouses.

This fairtrade wooden rhino kit arrives pre-cut from high-grade 3mm plywood board - the pieces simply push out. Once you've pushed them out, start to slot the pieces together to form the model. No tools, cutting or glueing required! There is an easy to follow numbering system to follow to build the model. They look great when built. Once finished the model can be painted or vanished. (paints and varnish not included)

Great little 3-D jigsaw puzzle, made from shesham wood.

This item is made by Aspiration International which is a small organisation in Delhi, India. It organises small groups of semi-skilled and skilled artisans with the aim of promoting and developing cottage industries, improving economic and social welfare and providing fair wages. These groups are located all over India and some have now become independent artisans in their own community.

Imitate a warbling bird with this wooden whistle handcrafted by Ecuadorian artisans. Just pull the stick at the bottom to change the pitch, and practise until you can whistle like a wagtail!

We sourced this wooden bird whistle direct from Otavalo in Ecuador through a company called Latin Colours. The artisans are known personally to us and we ensure they have suitable pay and working conditions.
